On the 29th of March, the first train departed on the new rail connection “VIIA Britanica”. The rail service will cross France in 22 hours, connecting the port of Calais with the Le Boulou terminal.

This new route is an important link in Ewals Cargo Care’s intermodal network. The Terminal inside the Port of Calais offers the possibility of integrated RoRo rail services with a direct connection to the UK. This provides a more sustainable and time/cost efficient transport solution in our connection between Spain and Sweden and from Southern France and North-East Spain to the UK.

French railway operator VIIA has been a partner with Ewals Cargo Care for several years and around 8.000 of our trailers are loaded on the Lorryrail, Bettembourg - Le Boulou service every year.

Please have a look at the video below to see a trailer being loaded onto the train at Calais.
