“Asset Based” : Transport with own transport resources

ECC offers its clients two forms of its own transport capacity: road transport and intermodal transport. For this ECC disposes of its own standardised fleet of loading units used Europe-wide.

The ECC fleet consists of 4,500 units.  There are 3,000 ‘Mega’ and other specialist trailers and some 1,500 intermodal units ranging from 20-ft coil carriers to 13.6-metre swap bodies.

ECC offers transport capacity on a “One-way” basis or as dedicated solutions, where a set capacity can be guaranteed. This gives each customer a competitive advantage, the emphasis resting on sufficient capacity and on-time loading and unloading at competitive transport rates.

Cost advantages are obtained by minimising ‘empty’ distances by having a high “geographic density” of loading and unloading locations. Cost advantages are also obtained from the high utilisation of the fleet with large freight volumes. This applies for both road and intermodal transport.

Last, but not least, our customers benefit from lower costs per cubic metre by using the Mega trailer (100 m³) and the lower costs per ton with the intermodal units : ‘The right transport unit for any load ‘
