2017: Further expansion into Central & Eastern Europe

To continue the expansion of Ewals Cargo Care’s connections in Central & Eastern Europe, new offices have been opened in Austria, Hungary and Croatia.

2013: Creating a new standard

To find a solution for the common problem of bulging cargo, Ewals Cargo Care launched the Mega Huckepack XLS trailer with reinforced curtains. This innovation sets a new standard in cargo security and safety.

2008: Introducing the Mega Huckepack trailer

Pushing the multimodality of the European network even further, Ewals Cargo Care launched the Mega Huckepack trailer in 2008. With this innovation a multimodal unit was introduced that is perfectly suited for transport by road, rail and short sea.

2007: Continuing the legacy

Sjoerd, Pim and Bram Ewals are the 4th Ewals generation to lead the company. In 2007 they take over after CEO Henk Ewals passes away.

2006: Celebrating 100 years of Ewals

Ewals Cargo Care reaches the very special milestone of celebrating its 100th anniversary, proud to be a family-owned company for a century. For this occasion we built an unique open trailer with a bar and meeting facility to accommodate visiting customers and partners.

2004: Establishing a Control Tower

Adapting to the rise of more and more complex goods and information flows, Ewals Cargo Care founded a Control Tower that optimises in- and outbound oriented supply chains.

1994: Joining forces

Ewals Transport and Cargo Care join forces and together become the company Ewals Cargo Care. This combines the expertise of Ewals Transport in continental road transport, freight management and warehousing, with Cargo Care’s extensive Ro-Ro services between the UK, Scandinavia and the rest of continental Europe. The new company further increases the multimodal possibilities within the European network.

1992: Expanding Ro-Ro services to Sweden

The next step in the expansion of the Multimodal Network is the implementation of the Mega trailer services between the UK and Sweden. Ro-Ro services to Sweden are now fully integrated within the Ewals services from the European mainland.

1990: Changing the industry with the Mega trailer

The introduction of the Mega trailer in conjunction with the automotive industry is a huge step in transport optimisation. This innovative trailer has a 100m3 capacity and is able to stack handling units to up to 3 metres internal height. It’s also ideal for lightweight, high cube freight.

1983: Coping with misfortune

A huge fire completely destroys the warehouse in Tegelen. Ewals faces the difficult times of handling the damage and entirely rebuilding the warehouse. By persevering and the continued trust of its customers, Ewals is eventually ready to move forward again and continue its path towards growth.

1974: Exploring new territories

Customers such as Vauxhall, Ford and KNP entrust Ewals with significantly more business, thus rapidly increasing the need to expand services into the UK. These new territories become part of the European network of Ewals that serves many more customers today.

1950: Rebuilding industries

During the reconstruction of Europe after the war, Ewals experiences rapid growth. Especially in Germany, where the steel and chemical industries need to be rebuilt.

1906: It all began with a horse and cart

In 1906, Alfons Ewals founded our company with a horse, a cart and a lot of ambition. Over a century later, the 4th Ewals generation proudly carries on his legacy in our family company.
