“I’m still getting smarter and quicker in my daily work”

Bas started out as an intern at Ewals Cargo Care a year ago. Afterwards, he was offered a position as a Planner. Today, he supervises interns himself.

“The fourth and final year of my education to become a Transport & Logistics Manager required me to do a final internship. I chose to work at Ewals Cargo Care as I knew some people who worked here, and my brother also completed an internship here before. It gave me the advantage of knowing at what kind of company I would work. I started out at the Planning Department for Sweden, initially focusing on getting to know the system and being able to keep up with the pace. My colleagues really helped me to adapt and accomplish that. After my internship, I continued to work in the same team. We work for entire Scandinavia with six colleagues, and Sweden is by far our largest market destination.

Every day is different here and presents new situations, adding fun to the job. In terms of the work climate here, we’re similar to a sports team. We jointly have to achieve great results, and the pressure can be high at times, as we have to succeed every day. If something goes wrong, we are honest and reflect, after which the show goes on. Last year I also participated in the international Ewals football tournament. It’s a great way of getting to meet colleagues from abroad who you normally only talk to on the phone.

While reflecting on my first year at Ewals, I notice how much I have developed myself. I’m still getting smarter and quicker in my daily work, and now also supervise an intern myself. I take a lot of pleasure in doing that, as I had that position myself not too long ago and therefore exactly know what things they might bump into. All in all, I’ve found my place here and look forward to my future at Ewals.”
