A journey of growth and innovation with Carglass®
When a truck stretches longer than a tennis court and carries more than a standard convoy, you know logistics is entering new territory. Our latest achievement? Launching a Longer and Heavier Vehicle (LHV) combination that journeys across not just one, but four countries.
From Belgium to Denmark, via the Netherlands and Germany, this LHV isn’t just a truck, it’s our moving milestone in cooperation with Carglass®.
A cross-border challenge
Moving an LHV across national borders isn’t as simple as turning the ignition. Each country has its own rules, road restrictions, and certifications requirements. Mapping a seamless corridor demanded months of preparation, regulatory approvals and extensive training for our drivers.
The result: an operational route that demonstrates what’s possible when ambition meets precision.
Exploring new horizons with LHV combination trucks
Carglass® approached us with a new challenge: investigating the feasibility of using LHV combinations. LHV combination trucks, known for their ability to carry larger loads and improve transport efficiency, presented an exciting opportunity for both companies. However, this transition required thorough investigation and planning.
Navigating regulatory challenges
One of the primary challenges we faced was navigating the regulatory landscape in Belgium. LHV combinations can only drive on specific roads, avoiding smaller roads that may not support their size and weight. We conducted extensive research to ensure that our routes from Carglass's European Distribution Center to the highway complied with these regulations.
Crossing Borders with LHV Combinations
In 2024, the Belgian government permitted us to use a designated road from the European Distribution Center of Carglass® to the highway for our LHV combinations, marking a significant step forward. Additionally, drivers relevant to this project received the required certifications, ensuring they are fully prepared to operate the new LHV combinations. Our journey didn't stop at Belgium's borders. The LHV combination now crosses multiple borders, creating a seamless route from Carglass® in Belgium to the Netherlands and Denmark. This achievement underscores the strategic foresight and careful planning that drive our operations. Establishing an LHV agreement across several countries required extensive coordination and agreements with each nation involved. This cross-border collaboration is setting new standards in the industry.

Benefits of LHV Combination Trucks
Among other benefits, there are:
- Increased Load Capacity: LHV trucks can carry larger loads, reducing the required trips and improving overall transport efficiency.
- Cost Efficiency: Fewer trips mean lower fuel consumption and reduced operational costs.
- Environmental Impact: By optimizing load capacity and reducing trips, LHV trucks contribute to lower emissions, supporting our commitment to sustainability.
- Enhanced Logistics: The ability to transport more goods in a single trip streamlines logistics operations, ensuring timely deliveries and better resource management.
