Danish road toll changes as of 1st January 2025

What does this mean for you?
- Distance-Based Tolls: Instead of a flat toll system, you'll now be charged based on the kilometres travelled within Denmark.
- Emission-Dependent Costs: The toll amount will also consider your truck's CO2 emission class, incentivizing the use of cleaner vehicles.
Where will the tolls apply?
The KmToll system will apply to most of the national road network and parts of the municipal road network in Denmark. This covers approximately 10,900 kilometers spread across various road segments. More details can be found on the Danish Road Directorate’s map of tollable roads.
What are the expected costs?
The exact cost for your truck will depend on its weight class and CO2 emission class. For example, a Euro 6 emission class (class 2) truck can expect to pay approximately 1.22 Danish Kroner (DKK) per kilometre, translating roughly to 0.16 Euros per kilometre. Checks and penalities
Denmark's toll system will use advanced technology, including automatic number plate recognition and DSRC scanners, to ensure that all trucks pay their due. If a truck fails to pay, it will face a hefty fine of DKK 4,500 (€600), which can be imposed daily. This rigorous enforcement ensures fair contributions from all road users.
