Driver training program

At Ewals Cargo Care, we prioritise quality in every aspect of our operations. That's why we aim to have the best truck drivers in the industry. Our comprehensive Truck Driver Training Program ensures that you are fully prepared to excel in your role. This program, known as our 6-Step Approach, equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive as an Ewals Cargo Care truck driver. 

You will receive a hard copy of the Trailer Manual at your truck driver training. This manual contains essential logistics information, including commonly used terms translated into several languages. The back of the manual features a sticker that serves as proof of your certification, issued by an ECC-certified trainer upon program completion. The Trailer Manual is available in seven languages: English, Dutch, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Czech. 

In addition to the manual, all content is available in video format. These truck driver instruction videos  allow you to learn at your own pace and convenience. The videos are in English with subtitles in seven different languages. 

Our program includes a full day of live truck driver training. This session covers the Trailer Manual, an e-learning module, and a Q&A session. You will receive your certificate at the end of the day. The training utilises various tools, including a load securing kit, a full-size training trailer, and a scale model. We also test and implement virtual reality sessions to enhance the truck driver training experience. 

To help you feel fully prepared, completing the Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) is essential. This open-book test typically takes about 60 minutes and takes place on our e-learning platform with the guidance of an ECC-certified trainer, ensuring you have support along the way. 

For a duration of two weeks, you will be guided by one of our skilled ECC mentor truck drivers. Throughout this time, your mentor will join you on your trips, assisting you in enhancing your abilities. You will receive training on a range of topics, such as eco-driving, truck operation, load securing, customer procedures, and effective communication. At the end of this period, your mentor will assess your preparedness to embark on your solo journeys. 

Ewals Cargo Care values continuous learning and follow-ups to uphold high-quality standards. The annual Driver Knowledge Test review keeps your skills current. Our auditors regularly inspect drivers at train and harbour terminals using the same criteria as the mentor driver. Additionally, our Mobile Quality Team offers onsite support and drives continuous improvements.
